#1814 - The Thoughts of the Garuda
The Golden-Winged Roc's power base was a city, a massive city with as many as thirty thousand demons within. Among them were many powerful demons recruited by the Western Heavens for him.
When it returned to its territory, it saw countless demons looking at it with curiosity and respect.
"Long live the King!"
"Long live the King!"
"Long live the King!"
The demons below shouted wildly. The Roc also noticed some powerful Greater Demons among them, clearly a significant investment had been made.
As a leader, the Roc decided it should say a few words. It walked to the high platform and released the power within its body. A surge of majestic demonic energy descended, and a mountain-like pressure enveloped the demons.
Some demons who had come seeking renown felt such immense power for the first time. The curiosity on their faces turned to astonishment, and many of their concerns dissipated.
"Everyone," the Golden-Winged Roc's voice boomed, echoing between heaven and earth, "It is a great honor for me, the Great Roc, to have you join. From now on, you will certainly not be treated unfairly."
This scene was, of course, being performed for the benefit of Namo Water Heaven Buddha, who was watching from the shadows.
As its voice faded, the demons cheered once more.
Then, after the Golden-Winged Roc spoke some more words, it instructed its subordinates to manage the newly joined demons.
After all, managing so many demons was quite troublesome.
It simply handed everything over to its subordinates and returned to its palace alone.
Inside the palace, Namo Water Heaven Buddha had been waiting for a long time.
With his hands clasped together, he sat calmly on the precious platform. After chanting a Buddhist prayer, he asked, "How is the Enforcement Hall?"
"Rest assured, Prison God has already agreed to my request and will send troops to reinforce me," the Golden-Winged Roc said confidently.
"Very good, then I must return and report to Buddha," Namo Water Heaven Buddha nodded.
"It seems they are going to settle accounts with us," Green Lion said in a low voice.
"But doesn't the Western Heavens still need us to complete this tribulation? And Third Brother shouldn't do such a thing, right?" White Elephant still couldn't accept it.
They were well aware of their role. If they were so easily eliminated by the Western Heavens, the Journey to the West tribulation would come to a standstill.
To this, Green Lion coldly said, "Disposing of the donkey after it grinds the mill is just a common tactic of the Western Heavens. Although Third Brother isn't that kind of person, there's nothing we can do if the Western Heavens really want him to do this."
These words made White Elephant frown deeply. A hint of murderous intent flashed in its eyes, and it suddenly said, "Brother, why don't we just go all the way and rebel against the Western Heavens? Anyway..."
At this point, Green Lion stopped it with a look and then said, "The Western Heavens are now openly planning to settle accounts with us, and we can't resist; we can only go with the flow."
