Use the MiniTool Partition Wizard

Follow these steps:

  1. First, you need to download MiniTool on your operating system.
  2. Once downloading is complete, go to the directory where you have downloaded it.
  3. Double-tap on the executable file to launch the application.
  4. Left-tap or click the “Yes” button when you are prompted by your user account control notification.
  5. Now follow the on-screen instruction to complete the installation.
  6. Double-tap on the executable file of the MiniTool Partition Wizard free app.
  7. When you launch the application, you can see partitions on your display.
  8. Now reboot your operating system and then check if the issue has been resolved.

Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

These are the steps you can follow:

  1. Tap Windows + I button your keyboard to launch the settings application on your device.
  2. Select “Updates and security and then click “troubleshooter” to launch the troubleshooter
  3. Now restart your device.

Initialize Your Disk

These are the steps you can follow:

  1. Tap on the “Start” button on your screen, type “disk management” and then double-tap on the top result that appears on your screen to open “Disk Management (Create and format disk partitions).”
  2. Now on your screen, a list of your hard drives will popup. If you find a disk shown as “Disk 1 or Disk 5,” you need to localize it.
  3. Right-tap on the partitions and then click “Initialize Disk.”
  4. Click “GUID Partition Table (GPT)” but then hit “OK.”
  5. Now the partition listed “Basic and Online,” but you can’t have any unallocated space, fix this problem, right-tap on the checkbox, and hit on the “New simple volume.”
  6. Select “Next” and then assign a drive letter, and then you need to format your new drive. Select the “NTFS” file system and then run a quick format.
  7. Now restart your device.

Connect Your Hard Drive to another USB Port

Sometimes External hard drives may disappear due to a faulty USB port. So to fix this issue, you need to connect your USB hard drive into another port.

Update Driver

One of the common issues “hard drive disappeared after updating the Windows 10 “occurs due to an incompatible or missing driver. To fix this issue, you need to download and install the latest driver version.

  1. Launch the device manager on your operating system.
  2. Find your hard drive and right-tap on it, and then click “Update driver.”
  3. Now reboot your operating system and then check if the issue has been resolved.
